Reading is most definitely one of the best ways that I have found to relax, unwind, defrag, and still be efficient with my time. I have found that it is very beneficial to annually put together a list of books that I would like to read. My rules of late for choosing authors or topics are simple; it just has to be interesting to me and drive growth intellectually, ethically, or creatively. I try not to read for entertainment primarily, but I try to pick books that are thought-provoking and that I find enjoyable to digest.
Below is the list of books I intend to tackle this year. There will undoubtedly be others beyond this list but here is the bare minimum:
The Laws of Human Nature – Robert Greene
The Biography of Anton Chekhov – Donald Rayfield
How to Hide an Empire – Daniel Immerwahr
Zero to One – Peter Thiel
The Stoic Challenge – William B. Irvine
Awareness – Anthony de Mello
The Fountainhead – Ayn Rand
Meditations – Marcus Aurelius
In 2019 I finished the following:
Sapiens – Noah Yuval Harari
The Power of Habit – Charles Duhigg
The 48 Laws of Power – Robert Greene
Mastery – Robert Greene
Poke the Box – Seth Godin
This is Marketing – Seth Godin
The Dip – Seth Godin
